What can I say about our experience at Nzumba, it was just magical! A real piece of Paradise.
Almost as soon as we had arrived and been given a wonderful welcome from Rika, a herd of elephants, complete with 3 babies came to the waterhole. It was just like being in a wildlife documentary!
Our lodge was absolutely beautiful, our bed turned down at night with flowers and chocolates.
The food was all 5 star, allowing us to sample South African delicacies such as ostrich sausages and warthog steaks as well as the most divine fillet steak, sweets, and breakfasts to die for!
Our wildlife viewings of lions were exhilarating; hearing and seeing a whole pride of lions feeding on their prey. Raptors, giraffe's everything we ever hoped to see, except the illusive leopard which Werner and Anders tried so hard to find for us.
Werner and Rika and their wonderful staff welcomed us into their home and made us feel like we were family friends rather than guests. Our candlelit dinner in their beautiful courtyard, entertained with amazing African singing and dancing will remain in our memories for ever.
Werner's amazing knowledge and expertise and his ability to give us the best possible photo opportunities made our all too short time at Nzumba a fantastic experience. Many, many thanks to you all.

We recently returned from a 4 night stay at Nzumba which surpassed all of our expectations. Simply, this was the best holiday / vacation we have experienced and cannot wait to return!
Set deep into the bush, but within a short drive from Hoedspruit airport, Nzumba successfully balances luxury with no shortage of warmth and charm. Even our driver from the airport, despite having visited numerous lodges in the Kruger area, was visibly taken aback by the Nzumba setting as we approached.
The central lodge provides numerous areas to relax and enjoy a drink, including a huge balcony with views of the beautiful waterhole that provides continuous sightings of wildlife throughout the day. The 5 private individual lodges (bedrooms and bathrooms) also have everything required for a relaxing and luxurious stay. Aside from the lodges, the Nzumba camp is surrounded by a beautifully maintained garden, complete with pool and multiple areas to enjoy evening meals under the stars (including a stunning dedicated BBQ / Braai area).
The dusk and dawn game drives provided a private opportunity to see the Big 5, regularly in many cases, and learn more broadly about the bush and the wildlife that occupies it. Across our 7 drives we rarely caught sight of another vehicle, making the safari experience feel even more personal. Werner, our ranger / guide, clearly had incredible knowledge of the bush and impressive driving abilities to get as close as appropriate to the animals, whilst also providing stunning views of the Klaserie landscape. Evans, our tracker, also continually amazed us with his ability to spot wildlife near, far and seemingly through trees!
In between the game drives we were provided with substantial amounts of high-quality cuisine at brunch, afternoon tea and dinner from Rika and her team. Menus combined local South African and European / Asian influenced dishes, with the standard so high that we cannot recall a single dish that we did not enjoy across the 4 days of our stay! There was also an extensive selection of drinks which included reasonably priced spirits and local wines.
Aside from the facilities, game sightings and the standard of food and drink, what really made our stay truly special was the warmth of Werner, Rika and the team. Service levels and attention to detail were first-class, but what made the real difference was their genuine effort to get to know us and ensure that we had the best possible experience. Despite the amazing wildlife sightings and views across the bush, the memories we will perhaps cherish the most are the evening drinks next to the fire or under the stars. We will certainly never forget our engagement night after the Braai celebrating with Rika, Werner and the two lovely pups! Many thanks to all the team for making our stay so memorable!

We had the most wonderful 2 days at Nyelti - truly a peace haven.
The staff are all amazing and go out of their way to make our stay as superb as it was.
Thanks to Stefan and Vusa we saw so many wild animals. Cherry on the cake was the pride of lions with their catch. They used their experience to track them down. Thanks. We hope to be back one day. We will definitely recommend you to our friends.

The best experience of our honeymoon

An extra-ordinary experience !!
My wife and I have travelled quite extensively and I have to say that this is the most outstanding experience we have ever had. It was so out of this world...
We visited the Klaserie Reserve in February 2017 with our two sons, 14 and 9 at the time. We stayed with Werner and Rika, our hosts at Nzumba Lodge for six nights. What made this experience so incredible ?
- The people, starting with Werner and Rika, our hosts, so competent and full of attention ; we came as clients, we left as friends ; just to list a few memorable moments : those evenings spent on the veranda after diner, chatting away adn watching the wildlife ; the great Ranger field lessons Werner gave our boys ; or time he took to help our youngest one overcome his snake phobia. Wiseman, our tracker, was so nice and skillful ; among many feats, he was able to spot a cameleon 15 meters away in the middle of the night ! We hope his wedding went well. As for Chief Wow, he prepared such delighful meals every day, that it was hard to get back to our daily routines after that. The rest of the staff was nice and made sure we spent a wonderful stay.
- The sighting & safaris. Of course, we came for the safaris and we were not disappointed : we saw a lion pride hunting at night as well as several elephants herds (ha ! having a drink on St Valentin's day with a herd of elephants grazing in the Klaserie River in the background...), we approached a white rhino and its calf, saw wild dogs retings and playing away, girafes gracefully grazing, and a female leopard on the hunt... and all the while, Werner and Wiseman took the time to explain what we were seeing, from bidrs to plants to rocks and relentlessly answered our questions.
- As for the lodge, it was a five star accomodation, straight out of a dream.
In short, this was the trip of a lifetime and we highly recommend The Klaserie Camps and its team.

Simply the best!
I can't find any words that would do justice to our experience at the Nzumba lodge. It was simply beyond any imagination.
Somebody told me that we were going to be treated like royalties at the Klaserie Camps. That was an understatement. The generosity, hospitality, warmth and kindness of Rika and Werner was beyond limits. It was like family. Never have I felt so sad leaving a place, and this after only two nights... My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer...this time.
When we arrived at the camp we had already been in Kruger and seen the big 5, other beautiful animals and fantastic landscapes. I thus wasn't sure of the added value of the Klaserie: what more could there be? I was already so grateful for everything. Well, then I hadn't met Werner and Wiseman yet. Again, what words could do justice to their professionalism and attentiveness? Being out game viewing with them is far from just driving around looking for animals. It is about getting to know nature, respecting the animals, understanding the signs, listening to the sounds, learning about the plants, hearing the stories of the South African reality and wild life. Just uttering a wish and the two of them did anything in their power to fulfil it. And when they saw our eyes glittering, you could feel the pleasure it gave them as well.
Equally amazing was the attention the children received. What could a young boy possibly wish for after having been sitting on Wiseman's "spotting chair"? Or after having held a rifle or driven a jeep...?! They were treated respectfully as "real" individuals - not "just" children - which made the stay as unforgettable to them as it was to us. I am so grateful for this as well. It is so rare and gives us such a joy.
I could go on and on. Wonderful accommodation, delicious food, impeccable service...
I wholeheartedly thank Werner, Rita, Wiseman and all the staff for this absolutely fantastic experience.
I have never in my life felt that I wanted to return to a place, however fantastic it was. There are just too many things and places to see in the world. This is the first time ever that I feel I just have to come back. That is the only small consolation I could find for myself when leaving the camp.
I therefore don't say good bye, but rather insist on how much I look forward to seeing you all again in a not too distant future.

The best part of our trip to SA - highly recommend
Once we arrived at the Klaserie HQ, our fantastic guides/rangers Werner and Wiseman picked us up and the safari started right there. We boarded the safari vehicle immediately and started on our journey through the reserve. The animals here are for real in their natural habitat, not imported or domesticated. In contrast to some other experience we had later on, this was the real thing - the animals walk around freely. We got close to elephants, lions, rhinos etc but the guides still kept us safe. Half way through the tour, we were able to get out and walk around, looking for lions. This was the most memorable part of the tour, I remember every second of this. Every day ended with a fabulous dinner. It was an amazing, I loved every bit of it and if you get the chance to visit Klaserie Camps, do not hesitate, it's worth every penny and every second. I just wished we had stayed longer... next time!

Cannot praise it enough
My friends and family and I (all in all 8 children and adults) left Nzumba today, after two unforgettable days. I wanted to describe them here, then found Louise' and Julian's description, which is really spot on for this amazing top notch experience. I can only add two things that amazed us:
First, the trust that Wiseman and Werner immediately inspired in us, with their unique combination of adventurism and professionalism. They didn't avoid risks, but managed them incredibly skilfully. As a result, we experienced a fantastic combination of on the one hand great adrenaline kicks (and very close encounters with dangerous animals like elephants, rhinos and lions) and on the other hand full confidence in their ability to bring us all safely away from the danger to the next adventure.
Second, the entire team's generosity and personal dedication: We never felt anywhere near to being clients, but more like arriving as highly cherished guests, and leaving as friends. Big congratulations to Klaserie camps for having found this amazingly warm, personal, clever and interesting management and staff! And looking forward to next time.

Experience of a lifetime...
I'm wracking my brains wondering how I even begin to describe such an incredible experience, but I'm not sure there are enough words in the English language to even try!
Werner, Rika and their team made us feel like both their family and royalty all at the same time. From the second we arrived it felt like home.
The lodge is finished to the highest of standards, a luxurious way to safari. Rika's attention to detail can be seen all around and the little touches leave you wanting for nothing. The views from every area of the lodge mean you never miss the action. The highlight has to be watching a herd of elephants arrive at the watering hole just 10mins after we arrived!
We spent our game drives in awe of Werner and his knowledge. His passion for the animals and the area, alongside his relationship with Wiseman (our tracker), made each drive just as exciting as the previous. I don't think I'd ever tire of sitting in the truck listening to Werner; 3 days certainly wasn't enough!
The chef and his team sure know how to cook; the food was exquisite and with plenty to choose from.
We cannot thank Werner and Rika enough for making the last 3 nights of our trip so magical. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending a stay at Nzumba, and I have no doubt in my mind that we will be back to experience it all over again (hopefully for longer next time!). Missing you all already!
