A wonderful stay at Nzumba
We had a truly lovely stay at Nzumba. We loved the open feeling of the reserve (and the uninterrupted sightings, allowing us to spend as much time as we wished watching the wildlife). Stefan's tremendous guiding skills and our wonderful tracker Patrick, meant that we didn't miss anything and they really worked hard to show us everything - from dung beetles rolling their balls of dung, to finding our 120th bird for the trip in the last few moments of our visit. Back at Nzumba, Ash was knowledgeable and welcoming and we had really interesting and informative conversations over dinner. And I haven't even talked about the food - absolutely outstanding - the best meals we had in Africa. The lodge was lovely with great views and a wonderful position overlooking the waterhole - but it is the people who make the trip extra special, and I can't say enough about how brilliant the team were.

I've been visiting South Africa and neighboring countries many times and have seen beautiful locations in Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. When my son asked me to join him and my grandson on their trip to South Africa I was of course more than willing to accept. I contacted my friend Julian Geerts and he suggested Klaserie camps as a fine, extraordinary and beautiful game reserve.
I was quite sure that hardly anything could top my experiences. When we arrived I was overwhelmed by this warm welcome of Werner, Rika and their staff giving us the feeling of coming home after a long absence.
During our stay we not only enjoyed a luxury, yet cosy atmosphere but also exciting game drives, a breathtaking landscape and the caring of a "family"!
There's not much more to say as my son, grandson and the rest of my family are planning to be back next year.
Many thanks to Werner, Rika and their staff for this wonderful time

First of all I have to thank Werner, Rika and the whole staff of the Nzumba Camp for that wonderful experience we had.
The motto: "Come as traveller and leave as friend" is not really true. It should be: "Come as traveller, be welcome as friend and leave as part of the family. That was, what it felt like.
We had a wonderful stay at Nzumba and the whole staff took care of us, especially with Maximilian, who was quite difficult when it was time to eat something.
The game drives were really exciting and we had 5 of 5 and much more. Here i want to add a special thanks to Andries for his remarkable eyesight.
I can recommend the Klaserie Reserve for anyone, who wants to have a impressive view on the south african wildlife without mass-tourism.
We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to see Rika, Werner and all the staff at Nzumba again.
Thanks again for your friendliness that made us feel part of that great family!
Thank you, Baie dankie, Ngiyabonga

When we arrived at Nyeleti after that long, dusty, bumpy drive we could not believe our eyes! A stunning, neat, tidy, clean, little camp with lovely green gardens, a swimming pool and welcoming managers. We have to thank Stefan and Ashleigh for their wonderful hospitality, attention to detail, and wonderful guiding abilities ! We saw leopard on three out of four game drives, and counted 104 bird species ! Not bad for just two days ! We loved the way the camp was managed. The kitchen is impressive, well stocked, and clean ! We didn't have to lift a finger to do the washing up or dispose of our rubbish. It was all done for us. By far the best self-catering camp we have ever come across. We are busy planning for 2019 with more of our friends interested in joining our group.
Thank you all !

Words cannot begin to adequately describe my experience at Kitara in February 2018. Arriving physically, spiritually parched and emotionally as dry as the riverbed, immediately my five senses engaged.
Donavan our Safari Guide’s warm South African welcome at base camp gave way to fresh air, cool drinks and the open air Land Rover ride over the bush terrain. Kitara, a diamond in a beautiful small square box quietly waiting to be seen, shone with great welcome through Kitara’s Manager Lee Ann's smile! Pressing the cool cloth offered on my tired face, within a short time, we were back in the Land Rover with our tracker Patrick ready for our first safari. In spotting a barren upright, leafless and blackened tree, note to self, this is me! Forgetting poor me, the firsts began from the land and sky. Elephants, zebra’s, eagles, warthogs and termite mounds and our most knowledgeable guide and tracker unrolled this great gift. Overall six safaris over 4 days exciting each sense.
Our first evening we had the tremendous pleasure meeting camp owners Fred and Manuela Crabbia and their 6 guests . Natural curiosity took over and cacophony of conversations began and was refreshed at each and every meal. Italian, Greek, South African and American cultures engaged several times a day exchanging kind smiles and hello’s although not all could understand the others language.
Intoxicatingly delicious meals from first to last filled with vibrant colors and textures were presented around the camp for our viewing pleasure and total enjoyment. No detail in lighting, sound, smell and taste were overlooked. Delicious Blue Crane wines provided my wine palate with smooth and well matched to our meal tastes. When at last the day ended, our cooled room welcomed weary extremely happy guests. In all my travels I have yet to experience the 5 Star experience of Kitara. My heart yearns to return and will someday.
Note two to self: As I was leaving Lee Ann’s office to travel back to the airport, I spotted a large photograph of a barren tree with a small limb of new life shooting out. Kitara et al gave me new life through days and nights of deep care and life giving kindness, NEVER to be forgotten.

We have just experienced a truely personal, unique, and memorable few days at Nyeleti thanks to our friendly and attentive hosts, Shaun from Moriti Private Safaris, and our guide Andreas.
The lodge is perfectly situated, impeccably looked after and appointed, with the kind of atmosphere hard to find anywhere.
We honestly hope to return. However, if we do not, have they have certainly raised the bar for future adventures.

Fantastic stay at Nzumba Camp in September.
The hospitality, standards, enthusiasm, ethics, knowledge and skills of the staff were marvellous; from Rika team in the lodge, to Werner and Andries out in the field.
We were also impressed by the variety of wildlife experiences over the 3 days here. As everyone should know wildlife is just that, wild, and nothing is ever guaranteed, and no two days are ever the same, even in the same place.
So seeing the following was quite amazing: three leopards at sun-down - one of them in a tree for an hour, with another two prowling around making themselves known, an elephant mock charges, lions of various ages, rhinos, buffalo, hyenas, jackals, genets, civets, mongoose, giant eagle owl, and many other birds, antelopes and animals.
What would be my best piece of advice to anyone thinking of staying at Nzumba? Book at least three nights, preferably ... you'll love it.

What can I say about our experience at Nzumba, it was just magical! A real piece of Paradise.
Almost as soon as we had arrived and been given a wonderful welcome from Rika, a herd of elephants, complete with 3 babies came to the waterhole. It was just like being in a wildlife documentary!
Our lodge was absolutely beautiful, our bed turned down at night with flowers and chocolates.
The food was all 5 star, allowing us to sample South African delicacies such as ostrich sausages and warthog steaks as well as the most divine fillet steak, sweets, and breakfasts to die for!
Our wildlife viewings of lions were exhilarating; hearing and seeing a whole pride of lions feeding on their prey. Raptors, giraffe's everything we ever hoped to see, except the illusive leopard which Werner and Anders tried so hard to find for us.
Werner and Rika and their wonderful staff welcomed us into their home and made us feel like we were family friends rather than guests. Our candlelit dinner in their beautiful courtyard, entertained with amazing African singing and dancing will remain in our memories for ever.
Werner's amazing knowledge and expertise and his ability to give us the best possible photo opportunities made our all too short time at Nzumba a fantastic experience. Many, many thanks to you all.

We recently returned from a 4 night stay at Nzumba which surpassed all of our expectations. Simply, this was the best holiday / vacation we have experienced and cannot wait to return!
Set deep into the bush, but within a short drive from Hoedspruit airport, Nzumba successfully balances luxury with no shortage of warmth and charm. Even our driver from the airport, despite having visited numerous lodges in the Kruger area, was visibly taken aback by the Nzumba setting as we approached.
The central lodge provides numerous areas to relax and enjoy a drink, including a huge balcony with views of the beautiful waterhole that provides continuous sightings of wildlife throughout the day. The 5 private individual lodges (bedrooms and bathrooms) also have everything required for a relaxing and luxurious stay. Aside from the lodges, the Nzumba camp is surrounded by a beautifully maintained garden, complete with pool and multiple areas to enjoy evening meals under the stars (including a stunning dedicated BBQ / Braai area).
The dusk and dawn game drives provided a private opportunity to see the Big 5, regularly in many cases, and learn more broadly about the bush and the wildlife that occupies it. Across our 7 drives we rarely caught sight of another vehicle, making the safari experience feel even more personal. Werner, our ranger / guide, clearly had incredible knowledge of the bush and impressive driving abilities to get as close as appropriate to the animals, whilst also providing stunning views of the Klaserie landscape. Evans, our tracker, also continually amazed us with his ability to spot wildlife near, far and seemingly through trees!
In between the game drives we were provided with substantial amounts of high-quality cuisine at brunch, afternoon tea and dinner from Rika and her team. Menus combined local South African and European / Asian influenced dishes, with the standard so high that we cannot recall a single dish that we did not enjoy across the 4 days of our stay! There was also an extensive selection of drinks which included reasonably priced spirits and local wines.
Aside from the facilities, game sightings and the standard of food and drink, what really made our stay truly special was the warmth of Werner, Rika and the team. Service levels and attention to detail were first-class, but what made the real difference was their genuine effort to get to know us and ensure that we had the best possible experience. Despite the amazing wildlife sightings and views across the bush, the memories we will perhaps cherish the most are the evening drinks next to the fire or under the stars. We will certainly never forget our engagement night after the Braai celebrating with Rika, Werner and the two lovely pups! Many thanks to all the team for making our stay so memorable!
